Accessibility Statement

This statement describes how we’re working to make the Liminally website accessible, where we know we still have work to do, and how you can let us know when something isn’t working for you.

Accessibility is what we do. That means it starts with us.

Liminally helps organizations build the skills, practices, systems, and confidence needed to create accessible digital experiences. We believe we should hold our own digital experiences to the same expectations.

Accessibility isn’t a one-and-done project or a box to check. It’s an ongoing practice of learning, testing, listening, improving, and doing better as technology, standards, and people’s needs evolve.

Our commitment

We work to integrate accessibility throughout the design, development, content, and ongoing operation of this website.

Our Practices Include

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define internationally recognized requirements for improving the accessibility of digital content for people with disabilities.

Liminally aims to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

At this time, the Liminally website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the website do not yet fully conform to the standard.

We’re actively identifying, prioritizing, and addressing those issues as part of the ongoing development of the site.

  • Designing and developing with accessibility requirements from the start
  • Using semantic structure and accessible interaction patterns
  • Testing visual design, including color contrast and text legibility
  • Supporting keyboard navigation and assistive technologies
  • Testing with screen readers and other accessibility evaluation tools
  • Reviewing content, images, documents, and multimedia for accessibility
  • Including accessibility in our quality assurance practices
  • Providing ongoing accessibility education for the people who create and maintain our digital experiences
  • Assigning clear ownership for identifying, prioritizing, and addressing accessibility issues
  • Considering accessibility when selecting and integrating third-party technologies
  • Incorporating the experiences and needs of people with disabilities into our research, design, and evaluation practices
  • Continuously improving our accessibility practices as standards, technologies, and user needs evolve

In other words, we’re trying to practice what we teach.

How we evaluate accessibility

Accessibility can’t be determined by a single automated score. Our evaluation approach combines automated and manual testing, including, as appropriate:

  • Automated accessibility evaluation
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Color contrast evaluation
  • Screen reader testing, including JAWS
  • Manual review of page structure, headings, labels, forms, links, and interactive components
  • Review of images and other non-text content
  • Testing of documents and multimedia when provided through the website
  • Functional testing of key user journeys

When we identify a barrier, we evaluate its impact, prioritize it, and work to remediate it.

Feedback and accessibility support

We welcome feedback about the accessibility of the Liminally website, courses, learning materials, registration experience, and other digital services.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please contact us: (info in the sidebar)

When possible, it helps if you tell us:

  • The page, course, document, or feature you were using
  • What you were trying to accomplish
  • The barrier you encountered
  • Your browser or assistive technology, if relevant and you’re comfortable sharing it

You don’t need to be an accessibility expert or know which WCAG criterion might apply. Just tell us what isn’t working.

We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within two business days.

Technical specifications

Accessibility of the Liminally website relies on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript working with web browsers and assistive technologies.

We design and develop the site using established web standards and accessibility practices and evaluate compatibility with commonly used browsers and assistive technologies.

Because combinations of browsers, operating systems, assistive technologies, extensions, and third-party services vary, experiences may differ between configurations. If something isn’t working with yours, please let us know.

Third-party platforms and content

Some parts of the Liminally experience may rely on third-party technologies and services—for example, ecommerce, payment processing, video conferencing, learning platforms, embedded media, or other tools.

We consider accessibility when selecting and configuring third-party services and work to provide an accessible experience wherever we can. However, some aspects of those services may be outside our direct control.

If a third-party technology creates a barrier that prevents you from accessing Liminally content or services, contact us. We’ll work with you to identify an alternative way to access what you need whenever reasonably possible.

Known limitations

We’re continuing to evaluate the Liminally website as it grows, and we may identify accessibility issues that haven’t yet been resolved.

Known limitations will be documented here as we identify and verify them, along with information about remediation or available alternatives when appropriate.

If you encounter an issue that isn’t listed, please tag us in using the contact information in the sidebar.

Assessment approach

Liminally evaluates the accessibility of this website through self-evaluation using a combination of automated and manual accessibility testing.

Accessibility evaluation is part of our ongoing website design, development, content, and quality assurance process—not just something we do when this statement gets updated.

This statement evolves, too.

Accessibility standards change. Technology changes. Our website changes. And we continue learning.

We’ll review and update this statement as our website, services, testing practices, and understanding evolve.
